Thorn-Clarke

The Thorn-Clarke family has a history in wine production in the Barossa Valley which dates back six generations and 140 years.  It brings the unique understanding of wine and passion of pursuing quality and taste. The winemaking philosophy of Thorn-Clarke is always same since foundation: showcase the perfect Barossa style of South Australia.

Their beautiful winery, nestled in the rolling hills of the Barossa Ranges in Angaston, has recently been awarded its 8th consecutive 5 star winery rating in the 2014 version of the prestigious James Halliday Wine Companion. Since 2003, the wine of Thorn-Clarke was selling all over the world, in Dan Murphy which is the largest Australia liquor supermarket; Thorn-Clarke is always the one of most popular product. 

Winemaker: Helen Mccarthy

Helen Mccarthy is the head winemaker of Thorn-Clark. As her talented in winemaking, she completed a degree in agricultural science with oenology at the University of Adelaide, where she graduated with first-class honours. In 2000, McCarthy joined the Penfolds winemaker team and made several premium wines for Treasury Wine Estate Group.  After two years she made the move to Taylors at Auburn, in the Clare Valley, as Senior Winemaker. In 2011, she joined the Thorn-Clark, as head winemaker. In 2013, she completed the MBA at University of South Australia.

According to her winemaking techniques, sensitive palate and experiencing, made her became famous in the wine industry. In the past years, she has been invited as judges in the different big wine challenges.

William Randell was created by Helen Mccarthy, she made the wine famous in Australia.

In 2012, the 2010 award winning Shiraz scored 97 points and was ranked in the top 100 wines for 2012 by James Halliday.

Thorn-Clarke Wines Shiraz has wowed judges at the 2013 International Wine Challenge in London.

The 2010 William Randell Shiraz has been award the trophy for Best Australian Shiraz and Best Barossa Shiraz.
